Default neons at last

I have had many many people tell me not to get neons because they're supposed to be really hard to keep. So today I was buying a small quarantine tank for my smaller fish and spotted the neons.

long story short, I now have 9 neons. If they survive till next friday I will make it about 20

so in this 2 footer I now have:
9 neon tetras
8 black widow tetras
8 red eye tetras
6 bristle nose
2 cory's
and 1 pakastani loach.

hopefully they'll all play nice

Hi Ferret........I have Neons as well. I haven't lost one, and I find them to be fairly hardy.

NICE

I have five neons - used to have six- lost one when I moved them from one tank to another, but they've been around since September and all are fine and healthy.

Good luck with yours!

I have six of them and haven't had any problems at all. They are always the first ones looking for food when they see me coming.

Does anyone know the name of the other kind of fish that look exactly like Neons but are a little bigger? I seen some the last time I bought fish, but I can't remember the name of them. Any info. on them?

You're talking about Cardinal Tetras. They're a little bigger than the Neons, and the red colouring runs all the way along underside of the fish, instead of only halfway. They are supposed to be hardier, as well.........I have both, and both are lovely............

I never found neons hard to keep. But they make great community fish. And they have good colors.

well as promised i got 10 more neons today. 3 dissapeared from the original 9. They weren't in the filter so I presume a bristlenose got them.

I also got a clown loach and some molley's.

with any luck in 3 weeks the cichlids will be here with the catfish and the 6 footer will be alive FINALLY. we totalled the order at 93 fish but I think 12 are for someone else.

any who that was my day
