Default buying me a new tank:):):)

alrighty,i have broke down and decided to go bigger! i just got back from looking at a 135 gallon tank, and i think im gonna get it.. i just want yall opinion on it.
its a new/ used tank.. i am buying it from a person, that bought it new, but they never used it.he said he put water in it and it didnt leak , but i dont think he left the water in it very long. only thing wrong it is has a small chip in the corner..

here is a link to pictures of it.just copy and paste.

http://www.selas.us/portal/modules.p...iewtopic&t=570

if this doesnt work let me know and ill redo it.

the chip is in the top corner and is in the outside of the tank. it isnt effecting the silicone at all.
will this effect the tank? i dont want pressure to cause it to bust.

should i pass on this or buy my new project???

The link didn't work for me...but be very careful. If there is any stress on that chip, the whole thing could let go! 135 gallons of water on the floor would not be fun!!!

the the post is titled scratch and dent 135 gallon tank.

i know its a lot to get to , but i really want your opinions before i buy this thing..135 gallons on the floor would not be a good thing..and a waste of 150.00 wouldnt help me winning keith over to the fishy side

I have had tanks with chips knocked out of the edges that never failed, but I was always nervous about them.

Cracks radiating out from or in the chipped area would be a bad thing!

no, there was no cracks.. just looked like the glass was shaved like in a spot in the corner.it was maybe 2 millimeters deep.

Maybe you could check with a glass store in town for some advice. I think they could give you some ideas on what you could expect. I would not be inclined to buy a potential risk, as there is no way to know how exactly the dent was made and if the material was subject to any stress, etc.

Make sure the tank does not have rounded corner edges. I have never seen this type of tank in person but on another site I frequent several had Large (100g +) tanks like that, that all of a sudden cracked and water spilled out for no apparent reason other then the tank design. It was a disaster.

You could do what lilfish said but....I think would be inclined to pass up that deal unless the tank was free and worth the hassel.
