I have never used a pre-quarantine in freshwater. Careful selection of purchases for disease is very important. After acclimation pour the water thru a net and then put fish in tank. Many people use a few drops of medication in the acclimation container while getting the fish ready for the tank. A separate tank for in coming fish is the ideal thing, but most don't have the room. I had a q-tank for marine use, but I never did it for fresh. If you choose to have a q-tank, use one of those plastic storage boxes of about 2 gal volume filled with aged aquarium water and a sponge filter ( might need a small heater also). A two week q-time will probably be sufficient.

Hi Smilo. I don't have a quarantine tank either. Try to get the best looking fish from the best local fish store (LFS) and keep an eye on the new fish for the first few days.

And pray
