Default Helpful tip!

This just resurfaced in my feeble mind. When cleaning your tank glass with Windex or other ammonia containing washes, cover the top of the tank with a towel or some such to keep the mist from reaching the water. If you want to see an ammonia spike, the mist will certainly provide a quick one!

Thanks Dano! good tip. you could also spray the cloth in another room first & then clean the glass, just a thought.

I use vinegar to clean the outside of my tanks, it is a great cleaner as well as a mild disinfectant & doesn't harm fish.

I do this as well. I have read this is the only safe method for cleaning the outside of the tank glass.
