Hi peoples.

just dropping in with an update.

I have glued the background in. I have also procured most of the plumbing. The sump 'n' pump will be setup in 2 weeks, with luck.

I also have most of the lighting but I'm waiting on a mate to come over and measure up for the cabinet before anything can be fitted.

I also picked up 75 Kg's of washed fine sand, and about 20 Kgs of river sand to mix in. I have grabbed a heap of limestone too.

To stop the limestone from moving around I have put a "grid" of silicone on the bottom to give the limestone some traction and cushioning for when it gets placed in the tank.

here's the tank and bits waiting for some time to put it all together

and here's a selection of fish that will be going in

cheers,
Joe

another update. I started staining the hood on the weekend. 1st coat looked really crap so I sanded what I could off and tried to get rid of the brush marks. here's me doing coat no 2. no 3 will be in a few days as the humidity is a bit high for this sorta work

hopefully the fish will be here before next weekend but unfortunately they will be living at a mates place for a week as the tank hasn't seen water yet

Ferret...Looks like you are having fun. The set up is going to be great when you are finished. Just a thought............we used the plastic grates from overhead light fixtures and air conditioning grills to support the rocks in our marine aquariums. The grates spread the weight and protected the glass. You can find them in hardware stores. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the update Joe that does seem like very hard work though & I really don't think I could be that patient and wait that long to have a tank/fish.

Hey Joe... I may have misunderstood something, but are you planning to put the fish in, before you cycle the tank? It'll be a lot easier on the fish to do a fishless cycle.
