Default Engleman's fish

I have a 14 gallon tank and have 2 glofish, 1 tiger barb, 4 guarmi or however you spell it, and a pleco. i just purchased 2 mollies from my local pet store, and the first day i had them they were very active but now on day 2 and they do nothing except float at the top of tank and just skim across the top instead of swimming happily. my tank is fully cycled and have had it for almost a year now. the pH levels are perfect. I just dont know what is wrong with them, they are the best looking fish i have and i dont want to lose them. thanks again if you might have any idea what is going on with them

For starters: what is the ph, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate....Temperature also?..........Is anything in the tank harrassing them?...Do they seem to be fluttering their gills rapidly?

Emailed by Engleman:
my pH level is 7, nitrate is 46, nitrite is 0 and ammonia is 0. and 1 of them is flapping their gills really fast the other is now swimming somewhat throughout the tank but still returns to the top after a few laps. i would have posted on the forum but for some reason when i click on post it still says that i dont have the right privileges to do so. i guess i still havent been fully activated by the admin yet. thanks for your help though.

i have 5 high fin mollies and they do that from time to time

my guess would be to lower the nitrates first
i would change 20 percent daily until have 10-15 ppm of nitrates
im sure salt wouldnt hurt but im not really sure

is the tank airated?

Well I am not for sure what airated is so i dont know haha. I'm still not 100% with all the terms used. The Mollies are having a little bit more activity, its just that they still don't do much of anything at all. They eat regularly, they just dont leave each other's side. which is part of the reason I bought them haha. I just wish I knew why they were acting like this.

Ariation is the use of anything that puts o2 into the water such as air stones.

oh haha. well in that case the tank is not airated. still now almost 4 days after I got them they still just float around, I tried turning the lights off for awhile because it seemed they swam more with them off, but now even with the lights off they just float, one at the top and one at the bottom. this is just aggravating. they look completely healthy too. they eat just fine. its just after they are done they go right back to just floating at the top.

You say the water is good, the other fish are good, and nothing looks bad on the affected fish........With no showing symptoms of disease there is nothing that I would suggest other than keep your eye on them.

Are you sure that Tiger Barb isn't harassing them?
