Default Can I have Congo Tetras

I'm just thinking that with Mac( Knife Fish) gone, should I get some Congo Tetras, or should I wait and see if I can get a Red Tail Shark? I know I'll be well stocked with the Congos, but I am pretty diligent with water chnages....

Sharon, why not get both, but not together. Wait, then add the RTS after the Congos get settled in. As you know the RTSs can be chasers and I think that adding it last will put it off and it might be a good guy. My 4 inch RTS is in with the Loaches and Long Fin Tetras where he occasionally chases, but nothing comes from it. I had a smaller one in the 30 gal and he was relentless and went to a friends tank to live with some big boys.

Do you think I have room? I imagine I'll have to get 6, which is almost 20 inches added to what I already have in there. Right now, I'm almost afraid to add anything that will be territorial on the bottom. My Clown Pleco has gotten very nasty! Oh, I need another tank...but I don't have time for another!!!

From your signature you have only 14 fish in the 55. Get three or four Congos and see how they do. You can always add more. With all the tanks you have you can move the shark or the tetras around.

I checked the store yesterday...The Congos are $12.00 each, so a small school is going to cost me $75.00 dollars. Am I being "cheap" or is this a little ridiculous!

That is ridiculous here. I see them regularly from $4.50 to $7.00. If you have a PetSmart near by, check them out.
