Talking Silly Angelfish

My Angelfish is obsessed with the powerfilter. I was watching him last night and he was playing in the outflow. He would get right in the flow and just kind of float around. Looked really weird. Any other fish that came close to him, he would chase away from the flow and then go right back over to it and float around some more. I didn't think Angelfish liked the strong current, but I guess this one sure does for some reason. It was pretty funny to watch.

You are correct in that Angel Fish prefer slow moving water. I would watch this fish and the other fish for any signs of stress. When there is insufficient oxygen in the water, fish will congregate near a source of oxygen (turbulence of a filter out flow) or near the surface. I don't mean to alarm you, but when a fish behaves oddly it is wise to look for causes. Then again, an occasional episode of strange behavior may just be a harmless fluke.

The one angel is the only one that is doing that. He makes sure of it. He claimed that spot for his own.

They have plenty of oxygen. I have an air wand going all the way across the back of the tank and it is cranked up. There is no possible way they are short of air. I can tell by watching him that he is just playing in the water flow.

However, when any creature behaves out side of it's normal expected pattern it is wise to keep an eye open.

Yep, I have both tanks in plain view where I can watch them closely. I am normally watching them when I am suppose to be watching TV.

It is very cute what he does in the water flow. I have seen fish playing in the bubbles of the air wand, but never in the filter flow. Guess he is one of the few angels that likes fast current.
