Do not be alarmed by the info in post #5. If your power filter stopped for any reason it would be quite some time before any effects would be noticed. The lack of circulation being the primary concern for areation purposes. Power filters are designed to help keep the water circulated and clean. They are used to assist in ammonia control by adding more surface area for bacteria and to remove waste. The resident bacteria in the tank it's self will not allow a complete collapse if some circulation is maintained to keep things oxygenated.
I got off the porch and ran with the big dogs. Now I can't get back on the porch!
